He walked into the school and stopped when he got by his girlfriend, Sam’s locker. He made sure to be as quiet as possible. The blonde knew she hated it when he scared her. That’s why he did it. He silently crept up behind her being careful not to breathe wrapped his arms loosely around her waist and yelled, “BOO!”

The girl jumped and yelped in surprise turning around to face the blonde. “Chester! You know I hate it when you do that!”

Chester smirked and said, “Why do you think I do it?” He then started laughing hysterically, holding onto her locker for support. He opened his eyes but they were quickly closed again when he felt her lips brushing his. That was her way of saying, “Shut up.” She pulled away and simply smirked at the blonde before walking off. He smiled. He loved the way she told him to shut up.

Sometimes when they weren’t at school the “shutting up” would lead to places he wouldn’t see coming most of the time. That’s what he loved about it thought.

Chester walked down the hall a bit more when he found his friend Adam. He ran up to him and practically jumped over him causing the boy to fall over in shock. “What the hell?!” He exclaimed loudly. Chester smirked (he used is smirk a lot in school) and replied, “I felt like it.” He shrugged and smiled as Adam continued to shoot him death glares at the blonde. “You really need to stop doing that.” Adam said taking a deep breath.

“Why?” Chester asked with a fake hurt look. Adam, being his best friend, saw right through him and continued to talk. “Because it’s annoying and scares the shit out of me.”

“That’s why it’s fun.” Chester said like it was the most obvious statement in the world. Adam rolled his eyes and walked off. “Oh, you’re not even gonna say bye to me?” Chester asked again, with fake hurt. Adam stopped and turned around looking at the blonde. “You are really stupid Chester.” He said and walked away again. The blonde sighed and started walking down the hall again.

He stopped when he saw Ryan by his class. “Hey man. What’s up?” He asked.

Ryan shrugged and said, “Not much really. I had a guitar lesson last night.”

The blonde knew it was his friend’s dream to become a famous guitar player some day and he supported him in any way possible.

“And…what did he say?” He asked.

“He said I’m starting to get really good.” Ryan said with a smile on his face.

“Well that’s good. You gotta let me come and see you play sometime.” He asked practically begging.

“No! I’m not good enough to perform for people yet!” He exclaimed.

“You suck!” Chester responded with mock hurt.

“I know.” Ryan said in a very sarcastic tone. Chester heaved and walked away smiling.

Chester was pretty much the most popular guy in the ninth grade. Everyone wanted to be his friend. Surprisingly, he only had three good friends if you wanted to count his girlfriend. Adam and Ryan had been his friends since pre-k and he had met Sam through Ryan at a party in the beginning of ninth grade and they’d been going out ever since. He was happy with his life in Phoenix.

As he walked to class he didn’t feel good at all. There was a certain feeling in the pit of his stomach that told him something was going to go horribly wrong after school and the day would fly by because of it. He could only hope he was wrong.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

He was right. The day did go by amazingly fast. Usually that was a happy occasion considering the fact that it was Friday. There was still that feeling though; that feeling that something was going to go horribly wrong. The feeling was with him the entire day and made him tense and anxious. His friends asked what was wrong but he simply said he just wanted to go home. He didn’t want to worry his friends about something that might not even be true.

He was still worried about it though. The only other time something like this had happened was when he found out his dad was in the hospital because of an accident he had at work. It scared the shit out of Chester and he didn’t like it one bit.

He got home and the feeling was still there. As he was walking home he felt sick. Once he got to his house he made a mad dash to the bathroom. He heard footsteps coming into the bathroom and shifted his eyes up to see his mother hunched over with him rubbing his back. He threw up everything he could and let out a shaky breath. “You done sweetie?” His mother asked. Unable to speak, he simply nodded and tried to calm his breathing. He got up and gave his mother a fake smile and walked over to the sink to wash up and brush his teeth…twice. “Do you know why you might’ve thrown up?” She asked when he was done.

“No.” He lied.

“Do you want to lie down?” She asked.

“Yeah.” He said truthfully. He was really worn out and felt like he was going to faint. His mother wrapped her arm around his waist and walked with him to his room. The blonde got into bed and under the sheets. His mom pulled the covers up to his neck and gave him a kiss on the cheek. “Sleep for a bit, ok?” Chester nodded and sighed closing his eyes. Sleep soon caught up with him and he was dragged into a dreamless sleep.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

“-Think about it though.” His mom’s voice was heard when he woke up. Interested, he sat up and started to listen in.

“I have. If we don’t move we’ll end up homeless.” That was his father’s voice. MOVE. That was the word that stuck out most.

“Think about Chester though. This is his home. We can’t just leave.”

“Do you want to end up homeless?” A deep sigh was heard before his mother went on. “No. I guess not.”

“That’s why we have to move to LA for this transfer.” LA?! That was so far away! His eyes widened and he laid back down trying to comprehend what he just heard. He was moving to LA. He was leaving his friends. He was going to a new school. His life was over.

He felt a tear slide down his cheek and grabbed his pillow covering his face with it. He sobbed into his pillow loudly and the sound came out muffled so no one would hear him. Eventually he fell asleep again from the drowsiness crying was causing him.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

He woke up again and looked at the clock. It was 7 PM. He sighed and got out of bed and crept his way across the hall and into the bathroom to make it look like he wasn’t crying. After all he wasn’t supposed to know. He was supposed to be sleeping. At least, that’s what his parents thought.

He looked in the mirror and cringed. His eyes were red and bloodshot. His face had red blotchy spots all over it and there were tear streaks down his face. He turned on the faucet and washed his face trying to make it look like he wasn’t crying. He turned off the water and looked in the mirror again. His face was only a little red but that was to be expected after he woke up. At least, for him it was normal. He sighed and walked out of the bathroom and into the living room.

His mother saw him and smiled sweetly. “Are you ok now Ches?” She asked.

“Yeah.” He lied.

“Good because there’s something we need to talk about.” He couldn’t believe it. She was just going to go right out and say it even right after he got up from being sick? How cruel could you get? Well he wasn’t supposed to know so technically she wasn’t being cruel. “What?” He asked trying to sound as normal as possible. He sat down on the couch next to his mother and she sighed deeply before continuing. “We have to move.” She said glumly. Chester gulped back a few tears and asked, “Where?” Even though he knew where they were going he wanted to hear his mother say it.

“LA. The stupid new Wal-Mart in town has run us out of business and the only other store we have is in LA.” She said sadly. He hated Wal-Mart. He never shopped there. He thought Wal-Mart was slowly taking over the country with their super low prices and good quality of their products. It drew pretty much any local business in the town it was in out of business. Obviously it took ours too he thought. “When do we have to leave?” He asked swallowing another lump that had formed in his throat.

“As soon as possible.” His mother said looking down. The blonde sighed shakily and nodded. “Ok,” he said, “I’m just gonna go in my room.” With that he let out another shaky breath before sprinting full force into his room, slamming the door and bursting into tears.

He was really leaving. He was really going to leave all his friends. It was really all over. How could they do this to him? His whole life was here and to take that away would be pure torture. He didn’t want to leave Ryan and Adam and Sam. They were practically his family. He couldn’t leave his family.

“I don’t wanna leave.” He choked out.
