Nothing To Live For
Nothing To Live For
My fire has burned for all of time,
A fire that can destroy
A fire that can heal.
The fire that can hate completely
The fire that can love unconditionally
Can I be loved?
Chester turned on the faucet and splashed water on his face, trying to refresh himself. But he could not wash away the memory and the feel of what had happened a few nights ago. Against his will, his mind recalled the night when he and Sam were fighting. They had been doing a lot of that lately.
“I love you, Sam! How could you do this to me? How could you ruin our entire relationship? What does this mean to you?!” Chester yelled, staring at the beautiful diamond ring on his finger, which seemed to have lost its shine. He pulled it out of his finger and threw it across the room. “You slept with another man, and now you want my forgiveness? Sorry, Sam, but I gave you a second chance and you failed once again.”
Tears rolled down Sam’s cheek as she moved closer to Chester, touching his arm. He pulled back and stared at her, anger and hatred in his eyes. Sam had cheated on him once before, and he had forgiven her, but she dares to do it another time, after all those years of counseling! Those promises! Did they mean nothing now? Why? Why did she have to make things so hard when they were finally going well after so long? “Chester.. baby.... please let me explain.. I was drunk, I wasn’t thinking…” Sam said, her voice getting softer and softer.
I can deliver the deadliest blow;
Or the softest touch.
Can you do the same?
I am fierce yes,
But I am not all that I seem.
Do you really want to find the real me?
“You weren’t thinking, huh?” Chester spat angrily at her, and slapped her. Sam yelped and fell on the floor. In fear, she crawled her way to the corner of the room, her hair in tangled locks, sticking to her wet, sticky face. Chester moved towards her, and kicked her as hard as he could. Sam screamed, her hand reaching for the cordless phone, only inches away from her. Chester saw what she was trying to do and grabbed the phone before she could. He went over to the window and threw it out, watching it hit the pavement outside, breaking into small pieces. When he turned around, he saw Samantha running into the bathroom.
“You can run, Sam, but you can’t hide. Not from me.” Chester followed her into the bathroom, then opened the medicine cabinet and took out a knife. He found her lying in the bathtub, filling it up with water. She sobbed as the water rose around her, not daring to look up at Chester. She knew what was going to happen to her, but she was helpless and unarmed. All she could do was to watch it all happen.
The fires inside me rage.
They are a part of me.
Do they intimidate you?
There is no need to be afraid.
Together we can accomplish so much.
Can you trust me to guide you?
“We could’ve been great together, Sam. We were going along fine, but you had to ruin it. You think you’re so beautiful? So wanted? Selling your body to every man you meet at the pub? I trusted you, Samantha. I could’ve loved you the way every husband loves his wife. But you didn’t want that. You just wanted to have a little fun while I was gone for the night.” Chester said angrily, moving towards the bathtub. Sam sat there, motionless, staring blankly at the water flowing around her.
Chester hopped into the tub with her, still holding onto his knife. Samantha’s eyes moved to the knife for a second, then moved back to stare at the water. Soon the bath tub was full, and water began spilling out, flooding the bathroom.
Notice what I have done for you,
Does it even matter anymore?
Now everything seems so small, so meaningless,
I have nothing else to live for.
Chester held Sam’s neck, and pulled her near him. “Sam..” he whispered. “I loved you…” He lifted the knife to her neck, and closed his eyes. Slowly he slit her throat, hearing her soft whimpers, feeling her warm blood drip down his hand.
I gave you so much but you wanted more,
You created pain, you created sadness,
I loved you, but it was not enough,
Not for you.
And now, everything is gone.
Everything that kept me alive,
Everything that made my life worth living,
Doesn’t exist anymore.
Chester snapped back, hearing his doorbell ring, a loud voice yelling, “We’re the police, open up.” Chester turned to look at the black bag lying on the ground, which contained his beautiful wife. He didn’t bother to hide her, soon the police would find out his secret, anyway. Chester washed his hands and turned off the faucet. His eyes fell on the bath tub, where he had murdered the woman he once loved. He blinked, and looked away, walking out of the bathroom.
The doorbell rang once again. Chester wiped his sweaty hands on his jeans, and opened the door to welcome the policemen. It didn’t matter to him what would happen next. He had nothing to live for, anyway.
