Daddy Mike
What???
Disclaimer: don’t own them… why are you ruining my dreams??
A.N- This may sound similar to other fics BUT I did not steal the idea it came to me on its own, so no I’m not copying. Yes it will get more original; Oh and I changed the ages around just cuz it worked better that way ok?
Mike Shinoda answered the phone with a cheery hello, only to have an angry rant answer him.
“You arrogant rock star, 5 years of child support all you got? You better show up to pick her up because you now have full custody!” The only thing after that was a stunned silence, and then Mike finally snapped out of it and realized who it was.
“Whoa wait a sec. For the past five years you told me not to come near her, that neither of you wanted anything to do with me now you say I have full custody, since when?!”
He sighed, not now any time but now. It happened to be his old high school girl friend, who he just happened to get pregnant right before he headed off to art school. Now he may have been young but he fully took responsibility and was willing to raise a family as best as he could. How ever she was having none of it. She moved away, and said all she wanted from him was child support, and he was crushed. That was five years ago. He was now 24.
“ Well you better be here to pick her up on Sunday or I’ll claim back full custody and you’ll never see her” She spat at him from the phone. He sighed, sure he loved his daughter and could support her, but this was a bad time. Linkin park was in the studio working on the next album and had tons of pressure on them, being forced to raise a five year old didn’t help. Neither did the fact absolutely no one knew he even HAD a daughter.
He sighed “fine” they set up a time and that was it. He hung up the phone and thought. How did this all happen so fast? One phone call and now he had to raise his five-year-old daughter… oh shit. How was he going to tell the guys? Its like his life was in fast-forward and he wished it would slow down, or that he at least had a rewind button.
Things had not been going good lately so how could he be surprised at this? His long-term girlfriend had just left him about 3 weeks ago, with out giving him so much as um… a reason, or goodbye. The manager of their band was pushing them all to get this album out faster because fans were impatient, and the stress level was way to high. He sighed and ran his hand through his hair, at this point he was ready to cry. What the hell was he supposed to do?
Sunday Morning Mikes P.O.V
I walked up to the house with so much fear I was almost shaking, wait was I afraid of a five year old? Nope, her mother. I knocked and my ex-girlfriend answered; She looked the same, except for that look of disgust in her eyes. Then I heard a yell from behind her and suddenly a five-year-old girl hurled herself into my arms with a cry of “daddy!” Wow, friendly was all I could think. I couldn’t help smiling. Her mother sighed with impatience,
“Mike this is Casey your daughter Casey this is your dad.”
Casey giggled and said “I knew that” Unfortunately her mother didn’t seem to have time for this. She got her bags shoved them out the door and I was left alone with Casey.
I took a good look at her. No one in a million years would guess she was my daughter. Maybe it was because she looked just like her mother. Who happened to be black. There’s nothing wrong with that of course but well, I am Asian, so yeah you really couldn’t tell. She has light brown skin big brown eyes, her hair was in braids with little beads at the ends, and the biggest smile I had ever seen.
“Come on daddy” she said taking my hand and leading me to the car. She didn’t seem at all sad that she was leaving her mother forever.
Well maybe this isn’t so bad I thought. I strapped her in the back seat, and we were off with her chattering happily away at me. She was such a cute kid, and I was soon totally in love with her, the drive was about three hours long but I didn’t mind and neither did she. About half way there my phone rang I answered, and it was Anna. She cut to the chase
“Mike I’m just calling to let you know I’m NOT coming back.” I was shocked “but—“ was all I could get in before she continued.
“You were cheating on me! And don’t say you weren’t because Jessica called me just to inform me!” I was in shock Jessica just happened to be the name of Casey’s mother. So she was out to ruin my life.
I went to explain as fast as possible, but I all I heard was a click. I sighed. This couldn’t get worse. I glanced in the review mirror and saw my daughter singing some random song and bobbing her head along, or maybe it wasn’t that bad after all. When we got home, it did get worse. I confirmed that yes my ex Jessica was out to ruin my life.
Caseys bags were packed with nothing but newspapers and rags and a note. It read you’re rich buy the kid some clothes. Casey peered over my shoulder into her bags and said
“Uh… I think we need to go shopping?” I agreed.
I smiled “Don’t worry we’ll go in about a half hour ok? Why don’t you watch some T.V while daddy gets ready?” I asked
“O.K” she replied and bounced off to watch T.V I went to check the mail.
It was mostly junk, but then came a legal document I opened it and read through. I clenched my teeth, Jessica again. She was suing me for not giving enough child support. I had given every thing she had asked, how was that not enough?! I felt like bashing my head against a wall, just then I remembered Casey and went into check on her. I found her 3 inches from the television singing along to the theme song to spongebob square pants.
Again things didn’t seem so bad, Jessica’s big plan to ruin my life had back fired completely, and I didn’t care what she did to me because giving me my daughter Casey was the best gift I have ever gotten. I laughed and called out to her “Don’t sit so close to the T.V you’ll ruin your eyes” sound familiar? Yep every parent says it, and I mike Shinoda am a parent. She scooted back about a half an inch. I frowned; I’ll have to work on that
