Chapter One

Ok, so here we go again. I'm kinda nervous about this. I really hope you enjoy it.

I promise it won't be as long as the last one!

You have to read High School Divide before you read this as it won't make much sense. The link is in my profile.

So this is a repost

Divided We Fall.

Chapter One.

“Holy shit you scared the crap out of me.”

“Sorry, were you asleep? Move over.” Mike replied in a hushed voice as he climbed into bed with Chester.

“Not really- here.” Chester whispered sitting up to pull the duvet around them both before cuddling down with Mike.

“How are you feeling?” Mike asked softly, wrapping his arms around Chester’s warm body.

“Yeah ok, my fever has gone down-argh- your hands are cold!” Chester exclaimed and Mike shushed him as he giggled.

“I’m just helping to cool your fever.” Mike gasped lightly; he pulled a squirming Chester back into his arms and kissed him, “Did you have a cigarette before bed?”

“I had to sneak one in! Nicky has been watching me all day and said if I was that sick I wouldn’t need one.” Chester exclaimed in a whisper.

“It tastes gross.” Mike muttered and Chester pouted.

“It’s my only flaw.” He said as he kissed Mike’s neck.

“I guess….. What’s my flaw?” Mike asked as Chester rolled on top of him, Mike moved his legs and wrapped them around Chester’s.

“Nothing you’re perfect.” Chester muttered kissing Mike’s face softly.

“Can’t argue with that.” Mike grinned through the darkness.

“Cheeky.” Chester breathed between soft kisses that he applied to Mike’s face and neck, “Can I fuck you?”

“That’s why I snuck in here.” Mike’s hands gripped at Chester’s hips before he slipped his hands between the slits of the vocalist’s boxers and took hold of his already swelling cock.

“I figured.” Chester replied with a little gasp as Mike pumped him slowly. “I mean, why else would you climb into my bed naked at one in the morning?” Chester breathed into Mike’s neck and kissed him softly, sucking at the flesh. Mike raised his legs up waiting for his boyfriend. Chester ran his fingers along the head of his own cock and then Mike’s to collect enough pre-cum to probe the young artist with. Chester didn’t spend long scissoring Mike; he removed his fingers and positioned himself. Mike’s hands took hold of Chester hips and as they held eye contact Chester pushed himself in. Mike’s mouth hung open as he took all of Chester inside him, enjoying the sensation again.

Chester withdrew slightly and pushed himself hard into Mike angling himself perfectly.

“Oh god, FUCK!” Mike cried out and Chester froze.

“Shut up you fucker!” Chester hissed at him and Mike pouted as ripples reverberated around his lower half.

“You’re a fucker.” He muttered sulkily.

“Well…yeah.”

********************************

“Michael Kenji Shinoda!” Nicky barked startling Mike into jumping out of bed, quickly grabbing a corner of the duvet to hide himself. “Imagine if it was your father who caught you!” She exclaimed striding over to the curtains and throwing them open.

“Sorry mom.” Mike apologised as he pulled on his boxers.

“Yeah, sorry Nicky.” Chester echoed his boyfriend as he sat up wearily in bed.

“And with Chester sick too.” Nicky continued to rant.

“Nothing happened! I was just checking he was alright and I fell asleep.” Mike protested.

“Nothing happened, my eye! So you just had to take your clothes off to get into bed with him?” Nicky snapped and Mike blushed, “Apart from anything else you can smell it in the room!” She furthered their embarrassment and Chester pulled the duvet up to hide his face, it wasn’t the first time she’s said that to them.

“Sorry mom.” Mike murmured.

“And you’re going to be late for your last day at work.”

“What?” Mike asked glancing at the clock, “Oh shit- I gotta shower.” He muttered, giving Chester a glance before dashing out of the room.

“Nicky, we didn’t mean too.” Chester told her and she sighed as she sat on the edge of the bed.

“Didn’t mean to what? Get caught?” She placed her hand on Chester’s forehead, “You’re still burning up.”

“Did you call in sick for me?” Chester asked as he flopped back in the bed. Last night Nicky has decided that Chester needed another day off and promised to call work for him.

“I did, though you can’t be feeling that bad.” She arched her eyebrow at him and he looked away with shame. “If Dan had caught you it would have ruined that last few days you and Mike had together.”

“I know, I’m sorry. We weren’t thinking.” Chester replied and Nicky couldn’t help but smile.

“Not with your heads anyway.” She paused looking at him, “You don’t look well.”

“I feel rubbish,” Chester admitted, “I feel like I’m going to be sick again.”

“Well the bucket is here sweetheart so you don’t have to get up.”

“I have nothing to throw up!” Chester whined throwing the duvet back.

“I know…I know but the doctor said there was nothing he could give you. But you do have to stay wrapped up.” Nicky told him as she pulled the duvet up around him again and tucked the edge under the mattress, “There’s no point taking any aspirin if you feel sick so why don’t you just sleep for a while.” She suggested. Nicky got up and closed the curtains again before sitting back down on the bed.

“Ok.” Chester murmured, “Are you at home today?”

“Yep, all day so I’m here if you want me.” She soothed him and ran her fingers through his soft ruffled blonde hair.

“Ok, I’m going!” Mike called and he dashed into the room, he threw himself on Chester’s bed.

“Michael!” Nicky snapped at her son as Chester let out a pained giggle and Mike crawled up the bed to kiss Chester.

“What? I’m saying goodbye!” Mike playfully kissed Chester all around his face, “Hope you feel better!” He exclaimed lightly as he crawled back off the bed, “Bye guys.” He called cheerfully to them and left the room. They both heard the front door slam and Nicky rolled her eyes at Chester.

“Now you can have some peace and sleep.” Nicky watched him for a few moments before leaving his room and letting him sleep.

******************

By lunch time Chester definitely felt better. Nicky had placed five pillows around him so he could sit up comfortably in bed and had brought him two soft boiled eggs and buttered bread- cut up into soldiers.

“I think I’ll be ok for work tomorrow Nicky.” He told her as she watched him eat. He’d only been working at the back office of the local newspaper since he left school two months ago and he’d already been sick twice.

“Are you sure? I don’t want you going back and catching something worse.” She replied watching Chester dunk his bread slice into the gooey egg.

“I feel loads better; I probably need some fresh air. Can I sit outside for a bit this afternoon- it’s so warm out?”

“You just want a cigarette.” Nicky sighed at him.

“I’ve not had one for days!” Chester defended himself.

“Course you haven’t,” She rolled her eyes, “I know you’ve been smoking out of your window.”

“No I haven’t!” Chester exclaimed and Nicky raised her eyebrows at him, “How do you know that?”

“Because that’s what I used to do.”

“What? You used to smoke?”

“Well-”

“I can’t believe you used to smoke.”

“Well I did, way back when I was a teenager. It was a fashion thing. All I’m saying is Chester that while I don’t agree with your smoking I’d prefer it if you didn’t go behind my back. And I really don’t want you smoking in your room ok?” She reasoned with him and Chester nodded feeling guilty.

“I’m sorry; I won’t smoke in my room again.” Chester apologised. Nicky smiled at him and watched as he continued to eat his egg.

“When are you next seeing your band?” She asked as she noticed a bundle on papers on the floor that she knew would be his lyrics.

“It isn’t my band Nicky, I just joined,” Chester corrected her, “I wanted to see them tonight but I knew you wouldn’t approve so we’re hooking up tomorrow.”

“Good boy!” She laughed lightly and Chester’s cheeks tinted pink, “Would you like a lift there?”

“No it’s ok thanks.”

“It’s across town.”

“So? I’m a big boy, I can walk.” Chester pouted and looked sulkily at her.

“How about I drop you off around the corner from Sean’s house- that way they’ll think you walked.” Nicky offered and Chester thought for a moment before smiling at her.

“That’d be great, thank you.”

“Anyway, I better get on- do I have all of your washing?”

“Yep.” Chester replied and Nicky stared at the clothes strewn on the floor, “I’ve only worn some of them once.” He answered her silent question. Nicky busied herself picking up his clothes before leaving him to eat his lunch.

*********

“Sweetheart, I’m going to the grocery store- will you be ok?” Nicky asked as she entered Chester’s room surveying him as he still sat propped up in bed and reading a band magazine.

“Yeah I’ll be fine.” He reassured looking up from the magazine.

“Ok, well I won’t be long, do you want anything?”

“Can you get the new one of this please?” Chester asked holding up his magazine.

“Yep- what’s it called, ‘Carnage’?” She read from the front page and pulled a face at him.

Shortly after she left Chester threw the magazine off his bed and slumped into his pillows. He was at that point where he felt well enough to be bored put not quite well enough to get up and move about. The thought of a cigarette was tempting him though. He gave into temptation and threw the bed covers off himself. He pulled on a pair of pants that lay crumbled on the floor, pulled his cigarettes from his bedside table and grabbed his cell. Obeying Nicky’s request he walked down the stairs and out the back door for some fresh air. Treading carefully with bare feet he sat at the garden table and lit up. It was nice; Chester glanced up at the blue sky feeling as if he’d just been let out from jail. He flicked the ash onto the ground as he looked down the garden to the house opposite. Chester knew without looking that no one would be in. It was 2 pm on a Thursday, something would have been seriously wrong if Sheriff Bennington had been at home. Chester was supposed to be seeing his dad this weekend but he cancelled because he wanted to spend time with Mike before he left; his dad seemed to understand- and even if he didn’t Chester didn’t care, his dad was always cancelling on him anyway.

He finished his cigarette and flicked it away into the grass; sighing to himself he decided to return to his room. Standing up he wondered how he could possibly be cold at the end of August. As he stepped back into the kitchen his cell rang and he smiled as he looked at the caller ID.

“Hey Phoenix.” He answered.

“Hi! How are you feeling?” Dave asked him, he was clearly driving.

“Loads better thanks- how are you? How’s Sam?”

“We’re both fantastic- just moving all our crap into our apartment. It’s so excellent man you gotta come see It.”

“I will do- I bet Sam won’t want anyone round until it’s all ready.”

“Yeah well I wanna have a leaving party for Mike and Rob.”

“Did Sam agree?”

“Well no. But it’s our new apartment! We’ve gotta have a party!”

“Oh. I thought you got the new apartment cause Sam’s pregnant, not to hold parties.” Chester gave out a short laugh as he walked up the stairs.

“Well yeah but it’s an added bonus. I have to make use of my free time while I still have it!” Dave exclaimed almost desperately.

“Right ok.” Chester rolled his eyes and he flopped backwards on his bed and imagined the argument between Dave and Sam.

“Sam wants to say good bye to the guys too but she’s won’t feel up to going out much so she’ll agree to having a small party.”

“Still got morning sickness?”

“Yeah but it’s not meant to last must longer, according to this book.”

“Awwwww is Phi Phi reading baby books?”

“Well I have to, don’t I? Or I wouldn’t know one end from the other! Besides Mom wants me to be responsible so she bought me loads of books.”

“Remember you promised to have its middle name as Chester.” Chester reminded him.

“When? No way am I naming my daughter Chester!”

“It’s a girl?”

“No- I dunno, whatever.” Dave muttered down the phone, going faint for a moment.

“So when are we having this small party?” Chester changed the subject knowing he’d pressed it too far.

“I dunno- either tomorrow, Saturday or Sunday obviously. Since they go Monday.”

“I know dude.” Chester sighed removing his glasses and rubbing his eyes wearily.

“Are you ok?”

“Yeah, y’know.” The blonde replied and the conversations stood still for a moment, Chester listening to Dave drive. The engine stopped.

“So have you seen your band?”

“It’s not my band and no I’ve not seen them this week- hopefully tomorrow.” The subject change hadn’t eased his churning stomach, “look dude, I’m tired- call me when you’ve got it all arranged yeah?”

“Ok man, well I hope you feel better soon.” Dave replied and they hung up.

Chester stared at the ceiling for a long time, the swirled Patten blurred without his glasses. He’d known since June that Mike would be going to college in another state, he’d had so long to deal with it so why was he in such a panicked state? The time between then and now seemed to slip by so quickly and in three days he’d watch his boyfriend drive off to something new. A different life he couldn’t possibly understand, or involve himself in. Part of him was wishing that something would crop up to make him stay, Chester knew it was utterly selfish and he would never ask Mike to stay- who was he to stand in the path of Mike’s future?

Chester also suspected that he was jealous of his boyfriend. He also knew that he couldn’t moan about it, he had made the decision not to go to collage. He alone had deemed himself not clever enough to make it through and decided to get a job and work at his band instead. Chester had sat through many meetings with his teachers, Nicky and Dan who had tried to convince him that collage would be good for him but he had refused. The fear of something totally new overwhelming him. It took him so long to find friends in High School and he’d spent so much time hating himself and being rejected- why would he do that to himself again?

No, he had made the right decision. He had. Really he had. Well it was too late now anyway.

With a heavy heart and a sigh to match he sat back up and leaned over to pull his electric guitar from its stand. He plucked at the cords randomly. This is what he would concentrate on when Mike was gone; he’d throw himself so heavily into this band that he wouldn’t have time to miss Mike. That was the plan anyway.

After being in constant company with Mike for two and a half years he had become accustomed to him always being there. Only a room away whenever he needed him. Chester had become so happy with his life and loved living with the Shinoda’s and now it was all changing. A few weeks ago Chester had tentatively asked Nicky and Dan if they wanted him to leave now he was 18 and they had deeply reassured him that he wasn’t just a tenant but a surrogate son. It was something that meant the world to Chester and gave him small amount of comfort when the panic rose in his stomach as he imagined life without Mike. Everything had been so perfect, why did it have to change?

Chester lost himself in the cords of a song he was working on until the familiar click of the front door drew him back to reality. He knew it was Nicky because he could hear the rustle of grocery bags; placing his guitar back in its stand he pulled himself up to help her unpack.

“I thought you’d be asleep.” Nicky commented as he walked into the room, she was placing vegetables into the refrigerator.

“Nope, need a hand?” Chester responded picking up the large bottle of coke and handing it to her.

“Thanks, we’re having lasagne for tea ok? I’ll leave some for Mike to reheat when he gets home.”

“’kay.” Chester murmured placing tins in the cupboard. He gave up and sat down; picking up the magazine Nicky had bought.

“Are you sure you’ll be up for work tomorrow? Don’t just go in because you want to go to band practice tomorrow night.” Nicky stopped to look at him.

“I’ll be fine and don’t call it band practice- it sounds like I play trumpet in the school band!” Chester replied dryly without looking up from his magazine.

“You look pale. I’ll book you in for a blood test- you could be a little anaemic again.”

“I’m fine.” Chester drawled out a whine evident in his voice.

“Well then the blood test will come back fine.”

“I’m gonna check my email.” He replied with a mumble and slouched out of the room and up to Mike’s bedroom where the computer lived.

He sat on the computer chair but didn’t turn on the machine. Chester stared around the familiar room of his boyfriends; the place was a tip with boxes and books everywhere with clothes piled up in a suitcase.

Chester stared at the boxes willing them to disappear. Outside he heard a car pull up and moments later Dan called out in the hallway to notify that he was back from work.

***************

Chester could smell the lasagne cooking and reluctantly stood up to go and help Nicky; however, he instinctively paused when he heard Dan mention his name.

“So Chester’s going back to work tomorrow?” Dan asked from the kitchen

“He says he feels better though he doesn’t look it. I think he just wants to go and play with his band.” Nicky replied as she laid the table

“I’d have thought he’d want to spend more time with Mike.” Dan responded and Chester sat down on one of the stairs.

“Who knows, he’s keen to work with the band and I think he’s worried that if he puts a step wrong they’ll chuck him out.”

“Do they know he’s…?” Dan trailed off and there was a pause.

“Gay?” Nicky asked and Chester could picture the look she was giving Dan, “I have no idea- ask him.”

“Err... yeah.” Dan replied and it was clear that he and Chester wouldn’t be having that conversation.

“I’m worried about him- he’s become withdrawn the closer it gets to Mike leaving.”

“Well he’s bound to be upset- he’s not the only one that’s going to miss Mike. Chester has to understand how important this is for Mike.”

“Of course he understands that! Doesn’t stop him being upset that Mike’s leaving.”

“Chester had every opportunity to go to collage.”

“I’m not having this conversation with you again Dan, Chester is happy with his choice.”

“Is he?”

“Dan.” Nicky’s voice held that warning tone.

“I know you think its best he didn’t go to collage but I disagree Nicky, he needs to get out there and see things outside this town.”

“No, he needs to stay where he feels comfortable and safe. You want him to be like Mike but he’s not, he’s not a normal boy like Mike is-” Nicky whispered harshly.

“Chester is not the only child to have-”

“Been kidnapped by his father’s psychotic girlfriend? Been hooked on drugs at 15 and living on the streets?”

“Chester isn’t the first kid that’s had a rough childhood and he won’t be the last. Now he has a good opportunity to go to collage- an opportunity other kids would love to have.”

“But why should he go if he doesn’t want too?”

“That’s just what he’s saying now.”

“I don’t think collage would be good for him.” Nicky snapped.

“I know you don’t.” Dan replied quickly and Chester stood up. He didn’t want to hear any more of this argument; he walked heavily down the stairs and the voices stopped but he could feel the tension as he entered the kitchen.

“Need any help?” He asked softly and Nicky smiled weakly at him.

“Pour yourself a drink, I’m just dishing up.”

They ate quietly through dinner, Nicky and Dan throwing daggers with their eyes and Chester eating with his head down. They seemed to argue about him a lot, more than Mike and it left him feeling guilty and empty. He had been responsible for his parents break up and the thought that he would do the same to the Shinoda’s had continually terrified him.

“Have you spoken to Sam or Dave recently?” Nicky broke the silence and asked Chester.

“Yeah I spoke to Dave today- they’ve moved into their apartment.”

“Poor things, it’s so much responsibility to have that young. 18 is no age to have children.” Nicky sighed and Chester grimly nodded.

“That’s not something we have to worry about is it?” Dan said and smiled at Chester.

“Yes Chester I hope one day you don’t come home telling us you’re pregnant.” Nicky giggled causing Chester to nearly choke on his food.

“I promise I won’t.” He spluttered as he took a long gulp of his water, he smiled at Dan and Nicky as he felt the tension lifted from the dinner table and he relaxed.

*****

Chester’s eye began to close and he felt himself drift off, the sound of the black and white film filtering through his ears.

“Is he asleep?” He heard a voice ask and he wanted to reply but he was so close to sleep and it felt so nice.

“Chester?” Another voice asked gently. The teen responded with a soft moan and he lifted his head up. He had curled up into the corner of the two seater couch, Chester blinked sleepily at Nicky and Dan sat on the other couch and offered a sheepish grin.

“Go to bed.” Dan told him and Chester yawned.

“I’m just waiting for Mike.” Chester replied looking at the clock that read a quarter past midnight.

“But you’re tired and you have work tomorrow.”

“I wanna see how his last day was.”

“You can find out tomorrow- come on Chester you can barely keep your eyes open.” Nicky responded and got up from the couch.

“No I’m fine, I want to see him.” Chester pressed.

“Well you’re too big to carry to bed so don’t fall asleep.” Dan told him as his eyes shifted back to the TV screen.

They sat in silence as the comedy continued, Chester’s eyes switching back and forth to the clock until finally they heard a key in the lock and the door swing open with a bang against wall.

“Shit… Oops.” They heard Mike mumble and giggle. “Hello?”

“In here,” Dan called out, “He’s drunk.” He said to Nicky who nodded with a small smile.

“Hello people!” Mike leaned against the door frame and grinned at them.

“Have fun at work?” Chester asked and Mike nodded before crawling clumsily into Chester’s lap and head butting his chin.

“Uh huh, the boys took me for a drink or two.” He mumbled as he fidgeted on Chester to find a comfortable position.

“Yeah... thanks Mike... Ow… fu- ok. Sit still!” Chester clamped his hands on Mike’s waist

“A drink or two?” Nicky asked

“Or three or four right?” Dan laughed as they watched Mike begin to fidget again and Chester struggle to hold on to him.

“Ow shit!” Chester exclaimed as Mike crushed his knee into his boyfriend’s crotch, in response Chester threw Mike off him and he fell on the floor. Chester curled up on the sofa with his eyes closed in pain and Mike stared around the room confused.

“Huh? How did I get here?” He asked dazedly and Nicky laughed.

“I think you should apologise to Chester.” Dan said nodding towards the curled up boy.

“Awwww I’m sorry Chesty, did I hurt your special area?” Mike slurred as he pulled Chester out of his position, “Here… let me kiss it better.” He offered but Chester caught his boyfriends face as it went between his legs before he could do anything.

“Oh God Mike, how drunk are you?” Chester asked his eyes wide open with shock. Mortified he glanced up at Dan and Nicky who were both trying to suppress laughter.

“Wha… oh hello dad!” Mike turned round and exclaimed as if seeing his father for the first time. “Chester hurt his crotch and I was just mending it.”

“So I noticed.” Dan replied drying. “Maybe mend it later though eh?”

“I should check for breakage.”

“No, it feels much better thanks Mike.” Chester replied quickly.

“I think it might be bedtime.”

“Yeah c’mon Mikey.” Chester pulled Mike up from the floor.

“Where are you taking me?” He asked as he waved at him mom and dad.

“To bed.”

“Ohhh lovely.”

“Nicky could you bring up a glass of water please?” Chester asked as he tugged Mike from the room, he pushed him up the stairs and into his room where Mike decided to attack him with wet kisses.

“Mmmm no Mikey.” Chester struggled as Mike spun him round and they fell onto the bed. Chester let out a groan as Mikes hip dug into his already sore crotch. He looked up to see Mike grinning at him.

“I’m a little drunk.”

“No shit.”

“You’re horny. Me too.” Mike went to kiss Chester’s nose and smudged his glasses.

“No, I’m tired… not horny… no Mike, get off me- stop it- stop humping me!” Chester pushed Mike up who began to giggle.

“You said hump.”

“Oh dear god!”

“I drank wine.” Mike stared stupidly ahead of him in a daze. Chester watched him with a smile; Mike turned and grinned at him.

“What am I gonna do with you?” Chester chuckled as he shook his head. He scooted close to Mike and kissed his cheek. “You look adorable when you look stupid.”

“Thank you.” Mike replied.

“Ok, let’s get your clothes off.” Chester said and Mike peeled into giggles. The blonde was forced to ignore him and battle on with getting Mike out of his clothes.

“You’re pretty.”

“Thank you.”

“I’m pretty too?”

“Oh of course- lift your ass up.” Chester tugged down Mike’s pants. He was now curled on the bed watching Chester’s movements with wide eyes; he looked like a startled child. “Do you need the toilet or to throw up?” Mike nodded and Chester helped him to the bathroom where luckily, he didn’t throw up. Nicky arrived and she forced Mike to gulp down two glasses of water before she and Chester tucked a suddenly sleepy Mike into bed.

“Night night Mikey.” Chester kissed the top of Mike’s head and turned out the light to leave his boyfriend to sleep.

“Wait.” Mike reached out and gripped his wrist. “Sleep with me.”

“Ok babe, I’ll be back.” Chester replied and jogged silently out of the room and across the hall where he shoved pillows into his bed to look as if someone was asleep there; he closed his bedroom door and crept back to Mike.

“Thank you babe.” Mike muttered as Chester wrapped his arms around Mike and moulded his body into the back of the young Asian.

“Just don’t throw up during the night.” Chester replied as he kissed Mike’s shoulder and drifted off to sleep.

So, what did you think? Your thoughts matter to me so please give me them- good or bad!
